Guidelines for Music Minister Applicants

We are excited to welcome musicians who are passionate about using their talents to glorify God and serve His people. Please carefully review the following guidelines before submitting your application:

  • Registration: All applicants must be registered to attend the GYC Africa conference as a Music Minister.
  • Categories: We welcome applications from Seventh-Day Adventist:
    • Instrumentalists,
    • Choristers/Worship leaders,
    • Singing groups, and
    • Solo music ministers.
  • Music Philosophy:
    • All music performed at GYC Africa should align with Seventh-day Adventist principles, emphasizing faithfulness to scripture and sound doctrine, worshipful focus on God, meaningful and edifying content, simplicity in style, purity in presentation and deportment, and excellence in execution.
    • We encourage applicants to prepare at least one musical selection in a language other than English.
    • Music presentations should be performed live. Pre-recorded sing-alongs and lip-synchronization will not be allowed.
  • Application Process:
    • Please submit your application on this page.
    • As part of your application, please include video recordings of your musical performance(s). Please note that the recordings will enable the GYC Music Committee to evaluate applicants for appropriate roles within the musical groups and program.
    • Ministers wishing to present a special musical item are kindly requested to submit a list of at least three song choices, including the complete lyrics for each.
  • Selection Process: The GYC Music Committee will review all applications and select musicians based on skill level, musical style, and alignment with our musical philosophy. Due to space and time limitations, we may not be able to accommodate all applicants, however, we will aim as including as many willing ministers as is possible. All shortlisted music ministers will be contacted.
  • Commitment: By submitting your application, you are committing to attend the GYC Africa Conference. If you are unable to attend after submitting your application, you must inform the GYC Music Committee via email as soon as possible before the start of the conference. You are also committing to abide by the GYC principles of music and requirements for participation, including dress code, rehearsal times, sound checks, and on-stage presentation guidelines, which will be communicated to you by the GYC Music Committee.
